looking at a fixer-upper...this is an ibanez artcore with a crack in the finish.  Could this be fixed?  I believe it is poly.

thanks

Nice guitar.  I don't see why the super glue trick would not work there.  Pretty long surface though...

Agreed, CA should work just fine with the poly...

what is CA?

AKA Superglue

Thanks.  I looked on the board and there does not seem to be a good description on how to do this.  There is no seperation, just a hairline crack.  Any experience here?

I'm a big fan of CyanoAcrylate, but I don't think it would make that line disappear.
That poly isn't going to melt.

Buffing it (the CA) out will also be VERY challenging.

I'd just leave it as is and market it as "relic".

I agree. If the price is right, leave it as is.

Those Artcores are great-looking guitars...I've wanted one for a long time, but I've never seen one in the colour I want (a short-lived blue burst).  :dontknow:

There are people that get paid a lot of money to do that on purpose.   :laughing7:

^ see, the trick is... don't fix the crack.

make a couple thousand new ones.

then throw it THROUGH a Pine tree.

at least twice.

the branchs will do the rest of the work.

Pity it doesnt have that the otherside too, or that would be a nifty bit of symmetrical line artwork to me more than a crack, just something about it  :dontknow:

It wont make the line disappear because it wont easily go into the crack.  However, buffing out CA is a breeze.....

That finish is cracked through.  Its a catalyzed poly-epoxy finish, and there is not good fix here.

CA will work for chips really really well.  It would maybe work for cracks where parts could be flexed a little.  But for the top... forgettabouddit.

there are a few dings in the back to.  I am just so anal about my guitar finishes.  I have a Charvel San Dimas..black that survived high school and college without any major dings...I dig it out to show my son...he closes the case on it....

I guess I could live with it....

Develop a guitar that cant get dings then?
All i know is i could play my fender blindfolded if i tried now cause the fifth fret position has a perfectly positioned dent in the middle of the back of the neck  :laughing8:
So does the 7th or 9th or something too

That is a gorgeous guitar. But I would never pay to have fake battle wounds put in....

I want to know where my scars are from. Or I want to have a REALLY hard time trying to remember....
