Here is a step by step for a Copper Tele Custom. The alder body is from a local builder and the neck is on order from Warmoth. This is a very accurate 63 Tele Custom body so I started with the yellow stain and a couple of wash coats of lacquer to seal it and then taped the binding.
Next it got black lacquer as the base coat for the copper.
I pulled the tape, scraped the binding and then level sanded the black.
I re-taped the binding and shot the copper. Here it is after the tape has been pulled and the binding scraped again. I took the picture with a neck I have lying around and a parchment guard. We are waiting to see what the wood looks like on the neck before we make the decision to paint the headstock to match or not.
