Here is a step by step for a Copper Tele Custom. The alder body is from a local builder and the neck is on order from Warmoth. This is a very accurate 63 Tele Custom body so I started with the yellow stain and a couple of wash coats of lacquer to seal it and then taped the binding.

Next it got black lacquer as the base coat for the copper.

I pulled the tape, scraped the binding and then level sanded the black.

I re-taped the binding and shot the copper. Here it is after the tape has been pulled and the binding scraped again. I took the picture with a neck I have lying around and a parchment guard. We are waiting to see what the wood looks like on the neck before we make the decision to paint the headstock to match or not.

Bang up job on your end, but I can't help but notice how intensely I dislike binding on this guitar. Tele's are already square enough without drawing attention to it.

Greg,

You constantly make it difficult for me to not contemplate another guitar.

Is that the #253 extra brilliant cooper? It looks real good binding & all, can you get more detailed about binding masking, it must be real time consuming. thanks leo

Here she is finished, a real beauty, I have not heard it yet but rumor has it that it sounds great. I'm really interested in the Twisted Tele neck pickup.  I should be able to play it some time next week so I'll tell you about the pickups next week.
