Hey all, I'm looking for feedback on a new concept I had.

This would be for a Strat hardtail.  Swamp Ash strat body, rear routed, finished in Alpine White.  Maple neck and fingerboard (clear satin finish) with black dots and SS frets, corian nut.  Black hardware.  Schaller 475 bridge.  EMG pickups (two humbuckers, 85 neck and 81 bridge) with the back of the body routed for a double battery box (for the 18v EMG mod).  1 vol, 1 tone, and a 3 way switch.

Any thoughts?  Love it?  Hate it?  Climb back under the rock from whence you came?

Thanks for pointing that out...2 humbuckers (edited the initial post to add that in there).

Sounds sweet Doc!    Have you tried out the 81TW-89 w push/pull combo?  Some of the newer Schecters have them, and I dig the tone on the coil taps.

Did you consider a recessed TOM/string thru on that?

graphite nut, black neck binding, black droptop binding. receded tom, and......

let me think black warmoth metal logo and custom dangerous neck plate.

If you're doing EMG's you gotta get one of these........ :icon_biggrin:

EMG-PA2

The PA2 is a straight booster preamplifier mounted on a minitoggle switch. Perfect if you want to just plain overdrive the input of your amp for distortion. It has a trim pot so you can preset the amount of boost up to an additional 20 dB. The PA2 will also work with passive pickups.

OT but, do you get a lot of squealing, etc. with the PA2? I have yet to hook mine up...

Update:  Body ordered.  Of note, this is going to be made of leftover parts I have lying around, including the neck.  The only thing I had to order was the body, battery box, and the neck screws.

Regarding the PA-2, I'd use that for vintage-output passives, but I wouldn't want to add it to EMGs, especially with the 18v mod.  However, I'm thinking that would be really cool in a build that used the Eric Johnson DiMarzios.  Maybe an LS5 with double f-holes.

The L5S might feed back if you use one of those puppies.  It sounds interesting though, I've been reading about it... never heard of it before!  For 30 bucks it can't go wrong...
