Funny thing is, these probably would have caught on in th '80s hair metal scene.

It was done in the 80's hair metal scene.

Hamer had one as a stock OEM pickup for about a year.

Mighty Might also had one called the "Motherbucker".

I don't know that I would ever risk putting one in a rear route, but perhaps a pool routed strat & just get a custom pickguard cut for it.

If you read the full link, they attribute the creamy tone of this pickup to having been dropped in an eclair .... and the use of Earwig wax.

For the record ... it was the Hamer Phantom GT that had that "triple" humbucker.

That's the one, thanks Andy!

Mondo output aside... someone must've slept through math class. Three coils doesn't buck anything. (Speaking of the original).

Actually I'm pretty sure it was the Prototype that had the 1st Humbucker/single combination. The Phantoms came a year or 2 later.

I stand corrected ... although the Phantoms did have that same bridge pickup.

What can't you find with Google these days?

Some of the comments on that page are hilarious. It's a bunch of twelve year olds whining.

DiMarzio is a load of crap. They should be put out of business, along with EMG.

That's right! DiMarzio and EMG are terrible. I don't know anyone that uses their pickups.  :dontknow:
