Clear Satin Nitro

I have 2 warmoth guitars, both have necks with clear satin nitro finish.  One has a wonderful "powdery" feel almost like it has no finish and the other has what feels like a light lacquer feel to it.  I called Warmoth and they explained there can be variations in the finish when done.  That makes sense to me but does anyone have a solution to the one with the light lacquer feel?  Is there a certain sand paper (or other) I can use to get it closer to the more "powdery" feel?

I have found that my satin nitro Warmoth necks to polish up with playing.  Doesn't bother me, but I imagine a little (and I mean a little) abrasion with something like 600 grit might help.  Test on a hidden spot, YMMV, don't blame me if you screw up your neck, etc.
