Here are some pics of my body from warmoth after I used all spray bomb cans bought from walmart, auto parts, and menards.
Let me know what you think.

It is 1 piece swamp ash-

used items below for finishing-
Elmers wood grain filler
KILZ Kraft Kote grey primer,
then White VHT Nitro lacquer for base coat-last 2 cans on shelf at old auto parts store from the '80's with an inch of dust on top of caps,
Then House of Kolor Tangelo pearl orange
Then watco clear a few times
Hung for 3 months curing then wet sanded all the orange peel completely out of the clear with 2000 grit alone and a rubber block pencil eraser
Hand buffed with micro fiber cloths using meguires mirror glaze #7

BAM DONE-waiting on my bridge pick-up to arrive and its going into final assembly very shortly with a 1/4 sawn all maple neck, 6105 frets, wolfgang contour, compound radius 10 1/2 "to 16", Small fender headstock-all true oiled. :headbang: :glasses9: :toothy10: :eek:ccasion14: :blob7: :headbang1: :guitarplayer2: :eek:ccasion14: :guitaristgif: :rock-on:
locking tuners, Chrome floyd

If you want to know what 6105's feel like check out a ernie ball music man VH model or a peavey wolfgang. I think warmoths are a smidge taller but again they are not dressed out yet either so I assume they will be the exact same when dressed out.
I built this guitar to simuate the playability of my 2 wolfgangs I already own and to be really truthful-its better on the warmoth after dry fitting it when the body was just primed and playing it strung up. I am really impressed with the tolerances they met and the outright accuracy of warmoth-I was astounded and greatful.

As for the P/U-its getting a motor city pickups blissterbucker-check out metro amp forums sound clips from BMF5150 under the Van Halen threads-it smokes and I can't wait to get mine!

aw sweet!!  A General Lee guitar!!!  awesome!!      Where's the flag gonna go??

Perhaps on the back?  That way it's visible when you play behind your head.

KWS has a "General Lee" of sorts...

And he has a matching guitar...

My dad had a general lee once. It was the coolest charger ever. All orange with a black bonnet. I don't remember much about it but it had the most awesomest sound. And it went really really fast.

About the finishing procedure for all those doing their own paint work-it is alot more simple than most make it sound.
If you have patience and get the paint on right and know what you're doing and let it hang 2 months-all there is to do is block sand with 2000 grit until all orange peel is gone and use the meguires by hand with micro fiber cloths. There is no need for all the other grit sandings and all that stuff to be honest.
There is the ultimate leveling of the cured finish with the 2000 grit and the ultimate almost risk free chance of going through the clear coat using the hand rubbed meguires #7 mirror glaze. Simple 2 final steps to awesone finish.

I am doing another guitar but this time it won't be ash or any wood that needs grain filling. I am thinking alder or basswood then painting it red and white and putting a Snap-On tools logo
or a red white and blue Budweiser guitar. I just like timeless things presented in new ways that are really different at the same time you know?

I keep toying with the idea of doing a Ferrari guitar with the horsie.

Awesome! Gives me an idea for a 'Texas Stratocaster' when I do a finish on the body this april (my vacation time that i get to be home). Again, Ultimate Awesomeness plus it's a guitar. ALL Win!
