Tonar just received the W parts a few days ago.

The neck is awesome.

I've heard great things about the resonance of the chambered W Strat bodies... I have a chambered Strat body coming in soon, so I'm pretty excited about it too.

If Suhr and Anderson says good things about chambered bodies than its got to be good, and with Warmoth, you can get it for 1/4 of price

What's the plan?

Since its Tonar whos going to do the finish, I think I'm going to go with his Sunburst!
3-tone, I'm guessing? Just by the fact that it's not a maple/maple neck.

You got that right mister.. a 3 tsb. modeled from a guitar that I saw on the internet.

crap! the title got me over excited...... I was hoping for an all ebony neck :tard: I really want one.

Here are some updated pictures.

The body has been stained and the first coats of lacquer have been applied. I will be able to start bursting it after I get the first coats level.

The neck has been re-profiled on the back of the headstock and the headstock also has a few coats of lacquer.  This is going to be one of those pieces of maple that is going to reach its maximum beauty with finishing. It is really coming along nicely and I can't wait to polish the maple on the back of the neck and really see what it has to offer.

Is it just me, or does anyone else get overly excited and love the guitars Tonar is doing just after the base coat color :laughing7:

I don't know about "overly excited", but it is interesting, educational, and enjoyable to watch. I always look forward to threads like these.

how do you reshape the headstock? (aka what exactly are you changing? I'm guessing it's minor?)

Looking at the necks from left to right both the first Tele neck and the first Strat necks are the original Warmoth factory profile. It has very sharp defined edges and does not flow in to the headstock the way I like. Notice the other three necks the edges have been rounded and flow more with the contour of the headstock. I just use sand paper and elbow grease to get the effect I find more visually appealing and softer feeling. Your right it is not a big difference and most people will not notice but people who see out of the box stuff compared to the softer re-profile like it much better.

Here is a good shot of Kei's re-profiled headstock, softer rounded edges, kind of make you want to grab it and start playing.  :guitaristgif:

I agree. Plus, it's not only an attractive feature (or, more accurately, non-feature), it's a playability enhancer. The less you have in your way or interfering with the feel, the better off you are.

Tonar, do you only profile the back of the headstock to the neck, or to you soften any other edges?  I do like the look and it does make it look more comfortable.
