Chambered Necks would be cool!!!  Just kidding but why not!?!

Seriously, they could chamber the inside of the fretboard between the frets. I bet it would be good for sound and resonance. The reduction in structural strengh would probably be about as much as scalloping. So, I bet it could be done. I know this seems superfluous, but hey we gotta think outta the box to invent stuff right? I bet the first time someone suggested chambering guitar bodies he was called a crazy man. So whatcha guys think?

I think its an interesting idea.  Alot of people here will tell you that the neck of a guitar plays a bigger part in the tone of the instrument then the body does, so chambering one could have quite a dramatic effect.  Perhaps strengthening the neck with carbon fibre or maybe even some kind of metal rod would fix any stability issues with it.  Ive heard of  a design where the inside of the neck is hollow, though it had a steel tube running through it instead of a truss rod.  It is apparently quite a different beast.

Basslabs.de builds guitars with hollow necks. Neat, if you're a Star Trek fan with $3000 to burn.

not only would it have a big effect on tone, i bet, but it would really cut down on neck heavy guitars!

Doubt it, since guitars were acoustic (BIG chamber) before they were solidbody electric.
