The Rig;  Carvin Legacy II, Carvin V3 Cabinet with Celestions G12T-75's, TC Electronic Nova Delay iB Modified and my trusty Warmoth Swirl Pearloid Top Partscaster. Love the smooth tone this amp delivers.

Cool rig!  :party07:

I traded two of the Celestion G12T75's for two of the Guitar Speaker Warehouse knock off Vintage 30's (Veteran 30) in my Marshall cab and I liked it a lot.  Added a lot of mid warmth to it with out losing the definition.  That looks like a fun rig to annoy the neighbors with.

+1.  I recently got the Legacy 3 and totally love it. I swapped the V1 and V2 tubes with a pair of balanced Tung-Sol 12AX7s and really opened up the top end on it. The clean channels on the Legacy series are killer aren't they? I could spend all night just on the cleans.

Congrats on the new amp.

Thank you ! Yes the Legacy amps are awesome. I had the Legacy 1, but it lacked the master volume. The Legacy II lacks the reverb, but I would rather use a reverb pedal any ways. The master volume on the II is awesome.  I did a full JJ tube swap and set the bias a little hotter and it made a huge difference in the tone. I wanted one when they first came out, but they were up in price. Glad Vai decided he wasn't a fan of the amp and the price went down. Bought it at the San Diego Carvin Showroom for more than 1/2 the price including footswitch and cover. This one is staying.

Thanks Patrick ! Yeah I want to do the X Pattern as well. I had a Ubercab before and it was awesome.

I think I saw that one in the showroom. Right up front in the entrance, yes? Had a red Bolt hanging over the top of it when I was there last. Nice to be able to just wander into the showroom isn't it? A couple of my coworkers and I go over there at lunch every now and then just to play around.

No doubt. I've been lusting after Carvin guitars since forever - maybe 40 years? - but have only seen a few of them. I'm sure they'd sell a helluva lot more of them if they were more approachable. Their return policy is fair and generous, but it's still a fright so a lot of guys just pass 'em up.

I got to try my X-60 out used... best of all worlds. Carvin takes a beating on resale, and it's reasonably priced to begin with. And I got to try it out in person, AND it's been my goto amp for 20 years now.

About 4 years ago, I had an opportunity to buy an X-100 112 combo in an oak cabinet with an EVM-12L installed, along with an Anvil flight case...

It was on Craig's List for some ridiculously low amount of money, like $250. Damn case was worth that much, and I had lusted after one of those amps for years. Needless to say, I was excited as a kid on Christmas. Went to check it out, and the damn thing was literally crawling with cockroaches. Plus, it was the only thing in the apartment that didn't look like it had been picked out of the trash in the worst part of town, and the guy didn't even own a guitar. I was not only disgusted, I was convinced it was hot, so I passed.

I was thinking dude - plastic bag and can of raid... until I got to the part about  suspicion of being stolen.

Yeah, I wasn't about to encourage the movement of stolen musical gear. And who knows? Maybe it was his. But, it was just so out of place... like being offered a Rolex on the street.

Then... roaches? They're persistent little devils that make rabbits look almost celibate. All you need is one, and by the time you've finished a beer and a smoke, you've got eleventy bajillion of them.

Whenever someone asks the "Hey, how much cab/head can I get for 500 bucks" question, my answer is pretty much always "Carvin MTS3200 and a Carvin 4x12 will do you fine, with enough left over for pizza and beer* for rehearsal."

*assuming you're not a total lush.

Yeah that was the one. It had been there for some time. I kept looking at it till I finally pulled the trigger during the March Madness BBQ Sales. Got a smoking deal. Yeah I'm about 15 minutes away and like going over there mostly to drool.

This! For $850 I got my Legacy 3 and a 2-12 cab to go with it. WAY less than the just Mesa T/A 30 head that I was considering at the same time. You just can't beat Carvin gear for price and sound. I've recently got the bug for a X100B, but the size is just too big for me. If they every come out with the X100M (think the size of the Legacy 3 or V3M but the guts of the X100), I'd definitely pick one of those up too.

But I can see why they've never really infiltrated the market like they could have. I'm lucky enough to live near one of the showrooms, but if I didn't, I'd have a hard time not being put off by the ship-it-back-if-you-don't-like-it policy. Too much of a headache for a testdrive that I could probably do in 20 minutes.

@DistortED: you should join the Carvin forum too. Very knowledgeable guys over there, and can help out if anything goes wrong.
