So Max wanted to build an amp.  A Vox type.

Turns out I know a little about Vox type amps.  I even have a bunch of parts left over.

So I'm putting together a little care package.  Includes a lot of stuff.  Actually it's probably easier to list the stuff it does not have:

1 - power transformer
2 - most tube sockets
3 - 4x EL84
4 - 0.0047uf caps.
5 - 0.5 amp fast blow fuse
6 - power sockets
7 - hookup wire
8 - all hardware, standoffs, etc
9 - output sockets
10 - a box, a handle, er a bunch of other stuff

Now to box it all up and send it off

Trevor, you're married, aren't you  :sad1:

:icon_jokercolor: Seriously, man, I can't thank you enough. And my roommate won't hate you enough, but we're not to there yet.

Can you send me the cab diagrams, and I'll send you whatever a beer costs  :icon_thumright:

You know, sometimes your imagination can get the better of you...

I had visions of more risqué gifts to hand over to someone just about to start College!

Great that you are gifting this stuff to Max, Mayfly, your karmic presence just rose a notch or two..... :icon_thumright:

Well, still have to get it to him.  There is a postal strike on right now up here in the canadas.

BTW - you'll also need heavy duty toggle switches (10A at 250VAC should do the trick).  and front and back faceplates.

Oh yea - you'll also need a choke.

Hey Max!  Do you want me to wire up the eyelette board?  It's easy for me as I have the jigs and it will give us time for the postal strike to clear.

At the very least I figure I should wire the jumpers - they are a pain in the ass to get right.

Very nice...by the way...I am building amp too...and just graduated my MBA....need my address? :toothy12: :toothy12: :toothy12: :toothy12: :toothy12: :toothy12: :toothy12: :toothy12:

Yeah, I got my associates a couple weeks ago. I wouldn't mind a new amp  :icon_jokercolor:

I'll do the caps and resistors. To me, that's most of "building an amp." If you would like to do the wires, and it wouldn't be any trouble, that could be a help.

A more risque care package would be like giving him a fish. This is like teaching him to fish. Or at least giving him a fishing rod.

I still want to build an amp someday. Probably from a Ted Weber kit, however the AC30 (6V30 on the weber site) looks far too detailed for me.
I'll keep my sights set on something simpler.

Forgot to add:  Cagey is responsible for the lovely wood work for this last Mayfly Amp.  Cheers Cagey!
