We felt it and heard it all the way over here, on the piece of land across the Chesapeake Bay. Nothing fell off my shelves, but it was still mighty weird. I am a fan of violent weather & catastrophes, so I can add this to my list (NOTHING beats Hurricane Andy in 1992 - the eye of a hurricane is a really neat place to be.)

wow 5.8 in Virginia, I bet those guys are Freaked out
that is a rocker for sure, but not that bad, we usually do not get to excited out here til 6.5

I felt it in Pittsburgh.  I was stopped at a red light, it felt like when a truck drives by on a bridge.  I used to live in California so I recognized it as an earthquake pretty quickly.  I looked at the overhead lights and signage but nothing was shaking so I knew it couldn't have been too strong where I was.

I stopped into the library after that and they said a few books fell off the shelves.

DEFINITELY felt is here in the MD/DC area. I felt the last one we had in this area (a 3.4 or 3.5 I think it was) and this one was definitely bigger. Once a year or so is fine, but I'm glad we don't have these things often.

I'm currently visiting a stones throw from NY/NJ area, and there were reports of it being felt here.. I'm pissed, I didn't feel a thing... :dontknow:

Yep, felt it here in VA. My fathers work in DC was evacuated. Turns out the only damage was a bit of tape coming loose in the stairwell. Ha! It was pretty cool.  :cool01:
