So GoDrex and I were chatting.

He's noticed that I tend to talk a lot on my facebook status about how I like to cook (and eat), and suggested that I start a blog.

I like the idea....
Who else reckons I should? I would mostly be talking about what I cook during an evening, and what music I'm listening to while I'm cooking it.  Might talk a bit about guitars too.  Would anybody here be interested in reading it, or am I wasting my time?

I'm looking at wordpress, cos it's free.  Anybody else got used it?  any good?

Ta

Jim

I'm interested! Food, music and guitars make life worth living in my opinion (women help too  :icon_biggrin:), so I'd definitely follow that blog.

And Wordpress has been a good experience so far for me (see sig for link). I haven't tried any other system but I liked the idea that in the future I can move all the content unaltered to a server of my own running its own Wordpress installation that I can manage all on my own, totally customising the look and whatnot. Go for it I say! :icon_thumright:

Right done it.....

Here goes nuthin'  :icon_thumright:

Kboman, you are my blog guru, and you will tell me how it all works.  You will answer all my blog related questions, and generally be my blog buddy    :toothy11:

Oh dear :icon_biggrin: Rock on Jim, and I'll try to answer if you have any questions!

Food, Music, & Guitars...  This is a good combination :headbang1:
Maybe throw some adult beverages in there somewhere and I am a happy fat cat.
I was a chef in fine dining for 12 years before becoming a dietitian.
So, I will definitely be watching for your continuing saga  :hello2:
Let it roll...

i love food blogs. i started one with my girlfriend before exams started. its nothing amazing but its what we like to do. But since we're away from home here in india we made a blog for other students here tellin them what is easy to cook with the limited supplies you can get here. And im a big beef eater which is funny because other people here look at me weird because most indians dont eat it lol. anyhow i'd read your blog a lot !

here's ours its called a Scavengers Guide to Great tasting food. It hasnt been updated in a while but we're both goin back to california at the end of the month once our exams are finished, so expect more recipes and pictures! (i've got a great steak recpie which i'll write on and post when im home and great beer burgers too)

Jim, I cook for a living.  I work under a trained chef.  I also doo allllllllll the cooking at home.  One would think that I would be bored with the subject, but hey, I never get tired of it.  I would love to read your blog.  We should trade recipes, too!  I have found my greatest creations are inspired by talking to people about fooooooooooooooooooood!

ohhhhh reeeaaallly? im lookin for a new steak recipe to try out when exams get over. Ya got anything interesting?

I don't cook for a living, but I do 99% of the cooking here at home.  I love talking food, its a subject that everyone has some kind of interest in.

Guitlouie, I must stress.... I'm no chef, I just like to cook.
Jack.... Again. I don't profess to be a BBQ genius, I just like them ( although I did build a car radio and a set of waterproof JBL marine speakers into my dads BBQ, which makes it great for entertaing)

I just like food and talk about it a lot.

Alex, if you want a good steak recipe...
Forget steak and get a large piece of beef brisket. Put it in a large pot with 2 onions chopped into quarters, an inch of water in the pot and a lot of crushed black peppercorns. Throw in some Worcester sauce (lea and perrins, dunno if it's available in the US). Cover and put in the oven on very low heat (50 degrees C) for 15 hours. ie, do it tonght before you go to bed. It'll be ready tomorrow evening.
The water will turn into the most amazing gravy, pour this into a pan and simmer until it thickens up. Leave the meat in the oven, but crank up the heat for 15 mnutes. This will give the meat a great finish.
Serve with lots of roasted root vegetables.
Easy

You can do shoulder of lamb or belly pork n exactly the same way.

I wouldn't say I'm wasted, just pleasantly inebriated.

Just for the recod, Max happens to know that I just got in from the pub, a little worse for wear. Ghe recipe above stills stands though.

Well the slower the better when you cook meat, so I'd be perfectly prepared to give that a go...!

With lots of garlic, obviously. Garlic is the corner stone of all dishes, with the reluctant exception of ice cream.

Karl, the garlic would be amazing on the lamb with some rosemary. Wouldn't work so well on the beef I don't think, although I've not tried it.
