Best strat bridge pickup

I'm seeking advice on a good strat bridge pickup. Personally, I've never really been happy with the sound of the bridge PU on the strats I've owned (fender PUP's). My new build has a tune-o-matic, and I'm looking for a good strat bridge single coil if it exists. I was thinking of trying a Lindy Fralin High-output(10% overwound) with a baseplate. It must sound good clean, everything else is an afterthought. Any suggestions?

I do not like over wound pickups because they tend to get to much midrange and sound muddy to me.

I have used to many different Strat pickups to list but I highly recommend using the new Callaham custom order Fralin, Hendrix/SRV/EJ.  They are the best I have heard so far.  Here is their hype.  I found this to be true.  These pickups shine as you turn up the amp.

Callaham H/SRV Specials. This again is a special wind for those who want the Hendrix, SRV, EJ sound. What makes this set different from our "Special Wind" is better note separaton and clarity on the wound strings under high volume overdrive. The plain strings are very full and the overall sustain is excellent.

To give an example when playing "Manic Depression" the wound strings have better note separation and definition under high volumes and hard picking. The plain strings are extremely thick sounding and the overall sustain is increased. The bridge pickup is very full and wide with its response.

Try copperheadpickups.com, awesome hand wound pickups!! and only $60 each!! I agree with the overwound thing, although 10% isn't alot, just don't go with the ones that read over 8.

they got some insane single coils that go up to 17k~ i think
:)
single, not mini humbuckers or any of the sort

For my money, nothing short of a P90 or humbucker will cut it in the brdige position on a Strat if you're looking for BIG clean tones. The Strat single coil is just too tightly focused to get a thick, clean sound. Then again, it's supposed to sound thin. That's the beauty of a Strat.

I would suggest looking at a humbucker, or a Seymour Duncan Phat Cat (P90). A full size P90 requires a larger rout and comes perilously close to the volume knob.

My experience with single coil sized humbuckers ahs been that they too sound very cutting and focused and confused. They have the juice of humbucker, but not the girth!

I love the sound of my Fender Hot Noiseless pickups. The bridge pickup sounds good to me.
