Best divided Pickup? I'm leaning toward Piezo, what manufacturer though?

To start my foray into Midi, I'm sure I'll get one of these ugly beasts:

http://www.axon-technologies.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=37&menu=107
http://www.roland.com/products/en/GK-3/index.html

but only because they're convenient to use on any guitar.  Personally I'd rather use a Piezo system that I can just put right into the saddles so that nothing extra is hanging around on my guitar except for a couple new buttons and a knob.

I know that L.R. Baggs isn't the only company that makes aftermarket parts for this. But I dont' know any names of other companies that make them.
They've got this bridge, which woudl be perfect for my Les Paul:

but it costs 200 bucks.. and all i need are the saddles.  Does anybody know where to get these parts?  Mostly I've just seen people transplant Variax's and use the saddles from them, but thats even more inefficient for me if i'm not doing a transplant.

These hex pickup systems are never cheap.  Unless you are intending to use midi in a studio environment, these systems are not really friendly playing live.

One of the more reputable manufacturers is Graph Tech, the same company which makes nuts and saddles (http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?SubCategoryID=15).  They are famous for their Ghost System which costs a whole lot more if all the different components are added up

The good thing is that Warmoth can prepare the bridge preparation to route the wiring so they can be concealed.

I have two major issues with technology like this sort of modification to your guitar (MIDI that is).
1. Compatibility to your existing system and the possibility that it could all become obsolete overnight if manufacturers use different connectors or formats.
2. The time it takes to become proficient with the system and then adapt what you've learnt into your style.

I'm not too worried about it going obsolete because I'm not using a ready-made guitar solution.  All I want is to get my guitar playing to midi and from there I can use any device that uses midi, which has remained at its basics, unchanged for 20 + years.  I like the fact that I can use this Ghost system, or an LR Baggs, or  the Axon/Seymour Duncan ... or the ROland GK, or even a synth ready Godin, they all work together.  The Axon website even says their products worth with Roland GK.

Unwound...  That site doesn't show any TOM style bridge saddles :( its all fender style stuff.

How about an internal GK3, so no bolt-on stuff?

Used a lot by Crimson Guitars www.crimsonguitars.com for their Robert Fripp models.

Wooops............sorry.  Didn't read your original post too clearly.  I know GraphTech makes graphite replacement saddles for TOM bridge though.

Curtis,

1) graphtech make saddles for TOM that have the pickups built in

http://www.graphtech.com/products.html?SubCategoryID=19

2) complete graphetch setup probably run you $500 US for the hexpander, acoustiphonic and saddles...they are canadians so maybe you'll get a discount :icon_thumright:

3) the roland GK-kit will be mounted to the face of your guitar with screws. not great on a Les Paul.

Unwound, Will Warmoth rout out the jack for the Graphtech 13 pin connecter? this seems to be the hrdest part of the install.

Srcoll to the bottom of the page http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Bodies/Options/BridgeRoutingOptions.aspx.  It seems Warmoth only do the bridge.

Take a look at Fishman.  They also make a TOM with transducers. http://www.fishman.com/products/details.asp?id=56
