So as some of you may know I'm a high school teacher. I actually teach elementary, jr and high school. Anyway, I have a few boys in the Jr. high that play guitar. Their homeroom teacher came to me this morning and told me that one of the boys' guitars is broken and he wants me to look at it at lunch. So I go down to the hall, which seats about 800, and it's completely dark. I get hit with a spotlight when I walk in and I hear "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JIM!!" and the lights come on and the boys have their band together and they start playing Fuel by Metallica. After that they went into a Green Day song and then finished it off with a rockin' rendition of "happy birthday" with their homeroom teacher on keyboards. After the songs they went off stage and came back with a cake with candles and a birthday card. Man, my students are cool!! They turned an ordinary birthday into something really special.

I don't think I need to say that I had tears in my eyes

that sounds like a really cool school you work in. we didn't like our teachers that much, oh except my gym teacher Ms. Roader. she was like 22 years old, blond hair, blue eyes, very attractive. the students hit on her every day. but she took it well.

Happy Birthday!

That's awesome, you'll be telling that story for awhile.  :glasses9:

Honestly, and I'm not trying to be egotistical here, they wouldn't do that for any other teacher. I'm kind of the odd ball here in that I don't fit the mold of your usual high school teacher. I get along with the kids real well. They really made my day. I only wish I could have gotten that on video.

I don't think I look like your normal run of the mill English teacher.....

Ouch, bummer side note for my birthday. One of my friend's mother died this morning. Talk about total suck.

If you can't have video, then you owe it to yourself to write about it.  :headbang:

Man i really wish my teachers had been cool enough to warrant a service like that, that's just heartwarming  :icon_thumright:

only thing any of our teachers did to deserve getting music played for them was english teacher (Ms. West CCCHS) got pissed about students playing acoustics in the classroom next door.
acoustics for gods sake! in music class at that, so we put them up but one of my friends really got into with her, they had a lot of words until the music teacher intervened, so at the start of 6th period, he finds me and takes me to his car and
brings his hot rod deville into the cafeteria pulls out this esp he had at the time. and out of dead silence you hear 'Take the power back" by rage against the machine,
her class was just beside the cafeteria, she comes out with this look of "WTF!?  :icon_scratch:" he gives her this S*** eating grin and just keeps ripping, i had retreated to my class to avoid the flames, still watching along with everyone else that came out.
the principal and ms. west come strolling up and he unplugs it, carts my buddy off to the office, but he didn't stop smiling the whole time, he had it out for her man! he took that heat like a champ,
think it was a week suspension, so totally worth it, our school was so close minded when it came to free expression, they had that one coming for a long time.

....you never tell a man to stop playing the blues, they'll only get stronger!!... thankfully your kids aren't like that lol
