Because I just can't contain myself! PF neck of DOOM

Really, really early in this process, but I just HAVE to show you guys this.

So, about a week or so ago I asked Aaron about the possibility of a pau ferro bass neck.  Just to, you know, keep an eye out?  I know that those don't come up so often.  I have one.  I love it.  Turns out Ken had this stashed.  (Yes, I'm getting a "private stash" neck.)

Major score.  THIS is my NECK of DOOM.

Again really, really early in the process.  No idea as to even orientation of grain or anything.  But this is the blank.  I know what area I would pick for the fretboard, but that all depends on what the wood has to say.  I've taken the front and back sides and put them together into one image.

Pau Ferro is good, but is heavy as ¥%@#
Once I bought some blanks that could make 4 or 5 necks and had to walk a mile with it... almost cut my arms off after it...

Yes, I will agree that it is a bit heavier.  I've got a bubinga/ebony neck that is heavy as sin, heavier than my PF actually.  If it's comparable to that, I don't have a issue.  Especially with ultralight tuners and a high mass bridge.  We shall see.  My heaviest bass, with the bubinga neck, is around 10 lbs.  That might sound heavy, but my lightest (roasted maple and a chambered SA body) weighs in at around 9 lbs.  And all of my W's are lighter than my stock Fenders.

I should have bugged Aaron about getting the W photo shop to take a couple pictures before shipping.  Cagey is going to be the first to see it.

Not to worry - I'll start a thread. I'm going to build it into a full J-bass complete with high resolution color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph below each one describing activity depicted, enter it in the GOM contest, lose miserably because nothing will match and nobody will be able to tell how great it plays/sounds, and then I'll send you the neck and you can do it all over again. It'll be on you to make it pretty.
