Gave in to temptation and pulled the trigger on my third piece of sweet Warmoth candy!
I wasn't initially convinced about the Diamondback design but it's been growing on me as some very nice examples have been popping up in the showcase. It had to be this one though.
It's not easy to capture what the finish really looks like but this gives an idea:
I tried to find an alternative to this neck... but couldn't. Dark Indian rosewood, black ebony board, no inlay, ebony headstock veneer, pearloid binding, SS6105 frets, Graph Tech nut. Heavily discounted as a 'Screamin' Deal' but still pricey (I couldn't quite get the supposed $833.00 built to order price to add up). Just one of those occasions when you see something and the whole plan presents itself.
The ebony veneer looks darker in the flesh and is super smooth!
This is trying to show the edge of the veneer - very nice workmanship, Warmoth.
Likewise, here's the scarf joint.
It looks like this must have been a customer return as some fret dressing work has been done. It hasn't been screwed to a body and no tuners have been installed, so happy enough so far.
Although this is intended to be a quick showcase items project, there is some work to do and the pickups will take a while to arrive, so look out for a work in progress thread when there is some...
