AVATAR cabs

Prices seem too good to be true.  What can you tell me about them??

Superlizard uses them...so there must be something there haha.  :laughing7:

I also have wanted some opinions on them though

Actually, Superlizard AND GoDrex use them.  If those two can agree on something.....They must be awesome!!!!

Seriously, though, I have a friend who has an Avatar 2x12 loaded with Celestions, and it is incredible.  Very well made, too.  I think my bud will have his forever.  As I revamp my own rig, there is a spot reserved for an Avatar cab at some point!

I see they use birch plywood.  Are most amps made of this.  I think Marshall used solid birch.

I am considering a 2x12 loaded with either vintage 30s, G12H30s, or G12T75.  I know the latter is ued for marshall.  Any advantages to either?  I want a vintage led zep tone but still have enought balls for some AC/DC type rock.

Still working on the head...orange dual terror and vox night train are topping the list.  I am even considering a Krank Rev Jr.

A fine cab indeed.

Plus, Dave has the cheapest prices on Celestion Blues 'n' Golds... and is a pleasure doing business with as well.

My room mate bought an avatar 2X12 with no speakers in it and then loaded it with two delta pro 12's from eminence.
the cab is as loud as a half stack(LOUDER than some half stacks), does not bass fart on when you palm mute and has a very wide freq response.
Its not muddy or nasal either but rather it seems to have all of the lows mids and highs right up front at the same time.
The cab itself is as nice as any marshal you would buy.
Its not as beefy as a mesa cab but you can get the avatars sprayed with lineX for a bit more.
With the Delta Pro speakers the 2X12 can handle 1600watts peak. These speakers are no joke

Here is a link to the speakers he used.

I have four 16ohm versions of these in a half stack and it is louder, clearer and punchier then any FULL stack I have ever owned.

I have a closed back 2 x 12 with vintage 30's that is warm and dark, and a 4 x 10 bass cab which is just great all over the spectrum.  For the price they can't be beat.  If I was to try again, I'd have the 2 x 12 with one 30 and one 75.  I don't think the 30's are defined enough for higher gain sounds, but for looser rock stuff they kick ass.  The 2 x 12 weighs more than the 4 x 10 which seems odd, but they use special drivers in their bass cabs.

I've gone with Avatar mainly because of the price and good reviews. I've been very happy with both of the cabs I've had. They're extremely solid and sound good. I can't find anything about them that I don't like. I'm sure someone with a more discerning ear could find fault with them, but I think they're excellent. I have a 2x12 traditional and I think it sounds beautiful.

I'm pretty sure Marshall also uses birch ply wood.

i use the 2x12 special close-back with v30s, i use it with an orange rockerverb 50. sounds better than any other speaker cab i've gone through. my local amp tech re-wired mine with an extra jack and he said it's one of the nicest cabs (in terms of quality/construction blah blah) he's ever come across.

just last week i was playing through a friends fender quad. i thought my head sounded a bit weird, really sterile. plugged into te avatar and BOOM, theres clearness and awesomeness.  :evil4:

high gain stuff i spose, but abig mix of clean too. i love mine, will never hock it for anything. i've heard good things about the hellatone speakers (specially aged v30s). i doubt anyone will be disappointed with an avatar  :dontknow:

I've had two Traditional Premier 212s and still have one of them.  I had one with two Celestion Blues that I parted out because I needed the cash during a very not-fun period of unemployment and still have one with the Hellatone 30/60 combo.

Awesome construction on both of them, and they both sound great!  However, the Hellatone cab hasn't seen much use lately (ever since I joined the country band).  It is great for darker, jazzy cleans and stellar for overdriven tones, but spanky clean tones and twang aren't exactly its forte.  Makes me really wish I had kept the one with the Blues...

That Orange will be pretty awesome.  I have a thing for Orange amps myself.  Wicked cool  :icon_thumright:

I Ihave really enjoyed mine and dave is a great guy. I had a 2x12 loaded with Lead 80s for the BMR and a 1x12 w/ a Hellatone for the DC Plexi. As I went Axe-FX, I will be selling these local.
