This is just a fill-in & something to tinker & muck about with.
I picked up a 2004 Aerodyne Strat (Japan) loaded body, No pickguard, in Black, with Cream Binding.
Basswood solid body, SSS Rear Route.
Comes up OK in pic's … But it is used & has some marks, as I was fully expecting.
Over-all it's in pretty good nick for 2004.
Will notice the Control Cavity Cover isn't recessed. :icon_scratch:
Of cause it will have a Warmoth Neck going on it. :icon_thumright:
Got a few Warmoth Compound Radius Necks here I can try on it.
Rosewood / Rosewood … Cream Dots (To lose + doesn't go)
Wenge / Wenge … MOP (To lose + doesn't go)
The Raw necks are just to lose in the neck pocket on this.
Maple / Maple … Gloss Black … Abalone Dots ….. Good fit …. Ummm this looks OK. Plus the black gloss actually matches.
Or go a Maple / Ebony or Rosewood with Black gloss ……. I'll ponder on that one.
From the spec's of (Aerodyne's) Maple Necks originally came with a 7.25'' (184mm) Radius……. No thanks !!
Also some call these 'Carved Tops' some 'Flat Tops'
In FACT it's more like a Unique Radius / Slight Curve across the Top & Bottom. (tried to show in pic's)
Looks really cool. :icon_biggrin:
Think there is a slight recess for the 6 hole vintage tremolo. (haven't pulled it apart as yet)
Will post pic's when I do.
So this may cause a problem with @scartozi's Acoustic Bridge (but will have to wait till I have them)
 (Reminds me to send some $$$ his way)
Thought this would look really cool with the Acoustic Bridge.
Doesn't have the forearm contour, like normal strat's.
Will more than likely be looking for better Pup's too.
Think there just standard cheapie Fender single coils.
But will see how they are 1st up before dishing out unneed expense !!
May-be something like .. Apache - Bare Knuckles
As I've read that you need a higher Treble & less Bass in the pickups when using in Basswood.
Also seen that it's best NOT to use a Hot or very High output pickup either.
I just don't know. :dontknow:
So I'd like to here your thoughts about ...
The type of Single Coil Pup's best used in Basswood….. Plus the Neck woods best suited / used too.
OR
Anything else you what to say about it !!
The Good - The Bad - The Ugly
Thanks & Cheers .... Updown :toothy10:
Warmoth SHOULD DO these ***HINT ----- HINT***
Now for some Pic's before I pull it apart. :icon_biggrin:
Haven't cleaned or polished anything either, straight outta the box, as it was.
NO outdoor pic's, Bloody Sydney crap summer ..... Stop Bloody Raining !!
:icon_scratch: Hey ... Anyone else got one of these ?
