Anything special to do after removing old neck before storing it?

do you have to adjust / loosen the truss rod on the old neck after removing it for storage?

I normally take a little bit of load off the truss rod. My practice is 1/6th of a turn which is easy to judge with a six-sided hex key.

Store in humidity regulated environment, no sudden shifts in temperature or humidity.

Ideally, bubble wrap and put up in a closet in the spare bedroom or similar

I have a raw rosewood/ebony modern construction neck that I just reset the truss to dead flat (via the side-adjust only) and has sat face down on a shelf* for a couple years (soon to go back on it's strat body). I've checked it a few times and it's still flat and true. May not be the optimal method but I've been lucky so far!

* edit: on a shelf inside my house, not in the garage or a shed or something!
