Hi All.  New to the forum.  Just got in an unfinished Jazzmaster body in Mahogany and while the sides of the pup, neck, and control cavity routs are fine, the bottoms of all three are very rough, with router tracks showing and very heavy endwood fuzz in the control cavity.  I suppose it really doesn't matter in pup and control cavity, but the neck pocket will clearly have to be either sanded, shaved, or rerouted to get full level contact between the bottom of the neck mounting surface and the bottom of the neck pocket.  It really surprised me.  There's actually a small ridge running down the middle that will have to be cleared at the very least. I asked Warmoth if perhaps it was the result of a very dull router blade, but Warmoth said it was standard for their unfinished bodies.  What's the experience with unfinished bodies out there, and any advice on the best way to level that neck pocket?  super sharp chisel, router, sander, etc.? I'm worried about changing the angle of the neck or having bass to treble side tilt. :dontknow:

Without seeing pics, I'm sure it's fine.  Control cavities, pickup cavities, neck pocket, etc., there's not really a way to fine sand those like the rest of the body.  Since they're covered anyway, it's not really even an aesthic issue.

This is pretty standard across the industry.
Even finished bodies are rough in the routes to a degree, some more than others perhaps, but still common.
Nice thing is, if you decide to shield the cavity, you'll never have to look at it again anyway.
Not that shielding is required, but still.

Just FYI, I've found the same to be true on the last neck I ordered. Tuner holes seemed a little sloppy, again as if bored with a bit that could use a good sharpening. Even a little chip out of the rear surface of the headstock. Nothing that's not covered by the tuners, but when paying $350 for an unfinished neck.........

The maple-capped alder P-Bass body I got ~2 years ago had a pristine neck pocket rout, but the rear-routed control cavity looked exactly like what you describe. All that fuzz made installing short shaft pots kinda difficult.
