I have a PBass and the neck needs some repair. It's a maple fretboard on a maple neck.

Here're the pics :

Pictures talk for themselves...

1st pic : 2nd and 3rd frets (body is on the left), coat peeled off, (and it hurts !), I had to sand it...
2nd pic : this is the 2nd fret, any chances to repair that or is it too deep already ?

This problem runs from 1st fret to 7th fret, more or less.

My thought is : that neck has to be remade completely ! Though I still can play without any problem, so far (it's been 15 years I bought that bass, it was new)...

What would you do ? Don't tell me to buy a new W neck, it's been already done...Just waiting...

Dayum!
you annihilated those frets!

All that I can say is that the PB is 15 years old, has known the hot of the Mohave desert in summer (I think this is the root cause of the coat peeling + lots of "finger juice"), etc...I has survived all those things, it still plays ok through an amp but...Can't wait my new warmoth...

If you really like the current neck but just want to fix the fret problem, re-fret the neck and you're good.

But it could be a good opportunity to replace the neck completely if you were never really satisfied with it, then Warmoth is the way to go :hello2:

thought I'd highlight this part.

Sorry, skipped past that part; which model of JBass is the neck off of? How much would it cost to to get a refret job in your area? You looking to use it on another build or resell it?

It's a PB Deluxe 4strings : W doesn't do that...So, I ordered a new JB neck/body from W.

I asked an instrument maker here : about 320 € to refret and apply a new coat. That's ok but I'll do that later...Money, money...
