I like "supergroups", although most of the time they are kind of disappointing

this could be good though:
Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham, and Derek Sherinian.
I was never impressed by Bonamassa Solo, but he could be great in a band. Glen Hughes is a great singer too!

Um...EPIC WIN

Love Joe's playing, Jason Bonham is money, and Glenn Hughes is such a powerful vocalist.  I like  :toothy11:

Yup.

Saw this today on Marko's Facebook post, and I have to say I like it.  :icon_thumright:

hmm. interesting that nobody but me was excited about Derek Sherinian? I guess it's the old Dream Theater fan in me. It's a shame though - didn't realy hear him much at all in this video.

I would be a lot more excited about a super group like this if they were playing more unique and original material. But i bet live, that'd be one badass show

I am!! :)  (although Dream Theater is at its best with Jordan Rudess!! and I can't wait to see them in 2 days with Iron Maiden!)

Is Bonamassa rocking a Steve Morse sig Ernie Ball?  If so, that kind of says something for that guitar.  He's been a Fender junkie forever and even had a signature model LP, and this is what he chooses to play.

He completely stopped using Fender guitars a while ago, and lately he's been playing Les Pauls and Ernie Ball guitars (a double neck, the Steve Morse, and a baritone John Petrucci model mostly I believe)  I dont know why, I like his tone with his strats...

definitely agreed. I think the first three albums they did with Rudess are mindblowing.
But Sherinian was his own beast. just had his totally unique thing going on with them.

I think I need to check out some of Glenn Hughes more recent funky music.. I love his work with Iommi (7th star and Fused) and obviously Deep Purple..

Speaking of which..... isn't this just mind blowing???

I was talking with a friend about this.  A guitar player often tries to find not just a good tone, but a signature tone.  The majority of blues players are on Strats, so he might be avoiding that tone just so he can stand out in the room.  For a blues player, his tone lately tended to be more distorted than overdriven - unusual for a blues guy.

Yeah, you're right, he said that he was sick of the SRV blues tone that is the strat.  Suppose I phrased it wrong, I DO know why he changed, I just don't agree with it haha.

A guitarist like that can sound good on anything anyways :P

In my not so humble opinion a good keyboard player is one that you rarely listen to him... Keyboard is something to give more "ambience" then play riffs and solos, to me

Bah, Kevin Moore gave them soul.  As much as I like Rudess as a player, he does nothing for me as a part of that band, and I've seen them live in both incarnations more than once.

This is looking and sounding really really promising!!!
