Hey everybody, I have a JB/Jazz set of pickups that sounded great in my epiphone SG. I put them into an ash/maple strat build thinking it would sound brighter, and got what I expected, except for one thing: I got the standard strat string spacing and the JB isn't f-spaced, so as a result, the high e and low E sound duller than they used to, even though the overall brightness has increased everywhere else. So now I'm in the market for an f-spaced bridge pickup. I know I could just get an f-spaced JB, but I haven't tried that many pickups and think it would be fun to do something similar but different.
TONES...
I play many styles of music. The JB was plenty tight and chunky for the metal stuff I play, so I don't need much higher output than that. I would also like to get some tasty twang in split and parallel modes if possible. Not asking for a tele pickup when it splits (I hope to build a tele eventually), but a good tapped sound. I play lotsa Jazz and blues on the other pickups (Jazz and a dimarzio VV in the mid) so something complementary that is hot enough for metal would be great.
