The studio project marches on.

My solution to Mic preamp question (and replacing my old TAPCO.) t's tough to find inserts on budget mixers, but since it's a 4 buss mixer - voila. I think it kinda sorta needs a slant top rack. It's not a huge priority, but some day I'd like to get the PC in the bottom of the rack working (and in something smaller than its current 4U monster case) and have a semi-mobile recording/sequencing setup. Don't ask me why - it never goes anywhere, but I can dream.

I like to think I'm smarter than the average bear (don't we all), but man you can get lost trying to route this stuff.

Okay, Mic 1 & 2 go to mute/ALT, which goes to the limiter, and then to the M-Audio 1010LT mic inputs (which are anemic for dynamics and lack phantom for condensor mics). Mains go to ... aw screw it and route it all to the patch panel.

Hehe! Some of my gear exists for the same reason.

Interesting rack ears you've got on that mixer. Did you have to fab those up, or were you able to buy them somewhere?

Believe it or not the dumbo ears were factory for this unit. Funny, I've been around this stuff a while and always figures rackmount mixers always came with this approximate number of channels because thats all that would fit. Guess not. Not even close.

Rack mount mixers can get fairly wide. I have a Behringer 2442USB in a 19" space...
