Well I decided I should put up a few more pics of the guitar other than the ones from the GOM contest thread.

This was my first build and went pretty darn slow. Now I just want to start another project.

So here it is when i first got it.
Got some help with the cats while opening

The body looked nice, Mic inspected.

Neck had some birdseye on it which i wasn't overly thrilled about, but i had just read about another guy getting the same thing on a neck and warmoth being very reluctant to do anything about it.
He ended up having to email someone in the upper ups that he happened to know.  Anyway it didn't seem worth it to do anything about it considering it wasn't that big of a deal.

Then I didn't do a very good job with taking build process pics so we jump right to the finished product.  :glasses10:

Full guitar.

Closer up to the body.

Here is the back,  I kinda enjoy the springs being uncovered but I have a cover if i change my mind.

Then some of the tuning pegs because they are kind neat.  Locker sperzels.

This is what my wife said as she saw the top photo over my shoulder on the computer screen:

"Apparently, if you get an electric guitar, you get all kinds of puss."

I have a calico cat as well. She's not so crazy about my electric guitars.

I had a similar problem with my first Warmoth neck, ordered plain maple for a stark white+black build, turned up with really quite strong flame and birdseye (and I detest birdseye). I think Warmoth think they're doing us a favour when they make us necks with "bonus" figuring, but I wish there was an option to not be included in the lucky dip, so to speak.

Anyhoo, looks like a nice build, love painted headstocks and the red/black pickup and tuner combo looks great.

'Really NICE guitar. I could do without the pink parts though. I'd put the '67 in the middle position, since it produces the least bass response and the most treble (good for "quack" tones). I'd put the '61 in the bridge, since it has the most output, which leaves the '58 right where it is, in the neck position...

I was a little surprised to get some birdseye figuring on my first strat neck as well, but I've actually come to really like it. I think it gives the neck a unique appearance I didn't really appreciate at first. Anyhow, great built. And good call on leaving the trem strings exposed. I did the same with mine.

Thanks for all the compliments guys.
Can kinda get a glimpse of the cats personalities.  blink, the one in the first pic, dives right into everything where as Mic, the second one,  is a little more cautious.

i'm going for the same pickup config.. how are you liking em?

I like it a lot actually.  Gets some of those awesome fender cleans.  The bridge pickup can get some nice bite going to.  I think they do what they are claiming to do quite well.

nice guitar, though I don't really care for the mixmatch colors. But that calico is absolutely beautiful. I'm a sucker for calicos, even though they're predisposed towards evil temperaments. Come to think of it, maybe I should sell the toyota and buy a jaguar - I seem to be a sucker for all kinds of pretty but high maintenance things.

Have you considered marriage to a Real Housewife of [insert name of benighted locale here]?

that position has already been filled, and that's all I'm sayin.

Yeah i figured the mix matched colors would not be for everybody.  But changing the pickup covers is a breeze if i ever grow bored of them and then getting new tuning knobs wouldn't be impossible either.
For now though enjoy the way it is.

The little calico is Blink and like you said she is a little terrorist.  Chewing on stuff all the time.  Bites my girlfriend all the time. (that is actually kinda funny  :evil4: ).  She is also really small.  She hasn't grown much since that picture so she is like a perma kitty. haha

Thanks crackepepper.

Also I guess I don't really have anything against birds eye it just wasn't really part of the original vision of the guitar.

But i'm happy with it.  and I love playing the thing.  i think that probably is what matters most in the end.
