Allow me to share my new venture

Violin builderd use up to 150 layers. Perhaps that makes those finishes a bit more durable? Don't know how many layers you put on?

:) Like I say - just wanted it sealed against dirt as quickly as possible. I'm sure it will pick up lots and lots of dents and scratches, but it's just for trying stuff out.

I have to bump this thread.

we have made SO much progress. the design is nearly finished. Just a few minor specs, but the prototypes are practically done. Some of you guys here, I have on my facebook and may have seen the test vid I did. Yes. I do clips now. Sorry. I promised NEVER to do them, but I have to now!

What can I say? I addressed all major issues with a Gibson LP. The headstock angle is less, so it's an even flexier feel with thicker strings and less chance of snapping the headstock. Combined with a smaller neck angle you get the biggest result so far: the guitar rests on the body and just the body, not on the neck, when you put it down on a table or in a case! That's a big issue for me, personaly.

I sculpted the heel so it plays even smoother than others. Thicker neck tenon, smoother transition. Tweaks are done in almost all areas of the guitar. These are just still prototypes! and they already rock my socks off. can't wait till the final product is done.

I'm taking a couple of nights in LA to myself in between. With a bit of luck I'll be getting some rather nice custom shop Strat pickups while we're there.

I've been watching your progress through your FB postings. The passion for what you are doing is clear. It's been great to watch the projects come together. I wish I were going to NAMM to see it all in person.

Cheers!
