Anyone who was/is and Alica in Chains fan, it was a sad day when Lane died.

Having just seen AIC live in Philly this weekend I can say the are back in a big way!

AIC played to about 1000 people in a packed Theatre in south Philly friday night and rocked the house!  Their new singer was spot on!  They also played 3 songs of their new album and I was really impressed!

Jerry said we were only the second show they played on the tour but they were very tight and together!  Most of all they seems to be having a great time up there!  I sure hope this lasts and hoping for a full blow arena tour!

I will have to say it was very cool being in such a small venue.  I was less then 10 feet from the stage and band spent a good part of the evening interacting firectly with the audience.  they even sang happy birthday to a dude in the front row!

Cool. AIC was a great band - looking forward to them coming around these shores.  :headbang:

I've heard two of their new songs and it sure sounds like AIC - but I still have no idea what the new singer sounds like.

Sounds like Lane...looks like Lenny Kravitz.  Plays guitar well too.

I'm usually a firm believer that when a band looses members like that it's time to change names cause they're just not the same band anymore (cough guns n roses.)

so naturally i'd dismissed the new Alice in Chains, but i liked this.

They've been playing a song from the new cd down here quite a bit, and it sounds like maybe a old song recorded before Layne died. I was tripping out when I first heard it. I've always been a big A/C fan...

That's pretty cool to that they sang happy birf-day to the guy in the audience, and ironically Friday was also my birf-day too.... :icon_biggrin:

I can see where you're coming from.  With G 'n' R, that is BS.  It's Axl Rose fronting a G 'n' R cover band.  With the Stones, as long as it's Mick and "Keef," it's the Stones.  The Doors couldn't be the Doors w/out Morrison.  Nirvana has to have Cobain.  I lost track of original members of Skynyrd long ago, but it's still Skynyrd.  I don't understand how John Kay was in Steppenwolf and now it's called John Kay and Steppenwolf.  Jerry Cantrell is the only original member of A in C, Inez has been there so long it's hard to imagine them w/out him.  To me, they're still A in C because Layne died, he wasn't fired.  Cantrell was the majority song writer, and although Staley's voice is very recognizeable, it's not that hard to reproduce and Cantrell's harmonies and guitar work is less easily replaced.  Besides, a few years ago when Jimmy Page and Robert Plant toured as Page/Plant, everyone I know referred to them as Led Zeppelin.  It's a case by case basis, and it depends on the band.

GREAT!
I just now realized that I have been to a Led Zeppelin concert.... 3 TIMES!!
