I wonder if you might consider doing a comparison video to see if there is a noticeable difference in tone between a thin neck and a thick neck profile. Maybe a standard thin vs a 59 carve or a fatback out of the same materials.

Thank you sir! Gave it a listen with decent headphones, and yes I could hear a difference. With clean or light breakup, the fatback did indeed sound better to me. Disclaimer, I prefer fatter necks. Once enough gain/distortion enters the equation, the sound of the wood (both body and neck) become less and less prominent.

Fascinating analysis and definitely learned something today. :)

I'll personally still be sticking with standard thin as that's what feels right, and since I play high-gain distortion most frequently, the subtle tonal differences afforded by the wood construction isn't enough to make a significant difference.

But thanks for asking the question, Cowbell, and thanks, Aaron, for the video!

There are a few body comparisons I'd like to see:

2 same wood, same weight.
2 same wood but different weight.
2 or more different wood but same weight
2 same wood, same weight but different body shape.

Also get an HSH rear routed Strat and try various pickup configurations to see how the magnetic pull affects tone and sustain. Only the bridge pickup would to be soldered.
