Just installed the GFS Loudmouth Bridge Pickup on my Shine WT440 and I'm very impressed with the tone and low price of this pickup.
Rated at 14.5k it has a nice punchy tone that's thick and clear, it can be too bright which I am actually fine with. At first I was concerned about the brightness, but then again I only play on Amplitube so I was able to easily change my settings to get a great tone out of it, kind of around that Van Halen-ey For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge type of tone, loud, but clear. It really reminds me of a Seymour Duncan JB.
The pickup is also installed into a Seymour Duncan Triple Shot and I'm very happy with the tones in every position on the TS. The full humbucking mode is nice and full and dark, but not muddy. The parallel humbucking mode is loud with pronounced highs. The south coil is very close to a strat bridge sound. The north coil is a tad warmer than the south coil which is expected. I really...REALLY hope Seymour Duncan makes these TS's with metal parts, as often as I am playing with the switches I'm afraid I'm going to break one of these in less than six months. I could just wire up a couple of toggle switches to get the same effect, or a 4 way rotary, but, I'm lazy so there.
I also have the neck pickup which has rating of 13k but I'm just waiting until I have all my parts for my build before I test that guy out. If it's anything like the bridge, I'm already happy with it.
A couple pics of it.
I'm ready for my closeup Mr. De Niro
don't worry that little copper wire there that's hanging on the g string slug on the south coil, it's not a copper wire...it's a cat hair, yes I pee'd a little when I saw it too.
All in all, I am very happy with this pickup. For about 35 bucks it's pretty much a steal and it looks cool with the metal ring around the pickup.
