Okay, so two of these basses are still technically "works in progress" but the remaining work is so small that I figured I should post some images anyway.  Some things are too good to not share.

I now own six Gecko 5-string basses, in medium width.  One is fretted, the rest are fretless.

I offer these two photos as a "teaser" of future photos to be posted soon.

Okay, folks, let's see if everyone can name the woods... :)

Everlasting thanks to all the excellent people at Warmoth, including (but not limited to) Spike, Eric, Rob, Jay and Dan.  You've all pressured me to post photos for a while now, so these are for you.

Very impressive collection.  :hello2:

The purpleheart bass looks incredibly sexy! Please do not hesitate to share some pics with us!

An ALL purpleheart Gecko?! *swoon*

I think I see goncalo alves, koa, rosewood and maybe redwood tops in there, as well as some very pretty mahogany. This will be a fun read :)

I saw these on TalkBass the other day.

I'm really diggin that Purpleheart one.
I'm generally not a purple guy, but that color is just so nice looking.

I see the third one doesn't want to wear his straplocks though. :icon_jokercolor:

The one immediately behind the purpleheart, does it a P-Bass p'up route?  On a 5-string?  What "picks up" the middle string?

There are a few companies that make 5 string P pickups.  Technically, the rout is the same size as a 4 string, but they've respaced the pole pieces to make room for 5 strings.

The ones I just saw on the Fender site had a bigger split coil on the bass side that caught the 3 bass strings, the treble side looked the same as the 4-string model.

I have seen them in both shapes. Bartolini usually makes one housing larger than the other, I think.

On my Gecko, both routes are the same size. The pickup in question (currently removed) is a Delano. It has three visible pole pieces on one housing for the B E and A strings, and two visible pole pieces on the other housing for the D and G strings.

Good guesses! From left to right, the laminate tops are Indian rosewood, figured Makorie, Canary wood, flamed Koa, and figured Walnut.

Most of the basses have mahogany under the tops.

The Koa bass is a recent purchase from eBay. The previous owner decided to install the strap nut on the BACK of the upper horn, for some unknown reason. I will be fixing as soon as I return from a brief road trip.

Warmoth did a spectacular job on the Purpleheart pieces. They have a lot of subtle coloring and it looks very diffferent under different kinds of light. Under fluorescent tubes it turns a dark burgundy, while late afternoon sunlight brings out the pink highlights.

that second pic looks really pornographic to me!! great tops!
also like your 'keys to ascension' . you must be a Chris Squire fan!

Those are amazing!  :headbang1: I love that natural binding.. and that purpleheart.. drool~!

:headbang: I am in awe of your great collection  :toothy10:
That Koa top is a beaut! My personal favorite. Good strategy with the Mahogany being common to most of them.
The Walnut is sweet too. :glasses9:

Awesome basses.   :kewlpics:  What are the pickups?

From left to right, the pickups are Lane Poor, Bartolini, Villex, Seymour Duncan, Delano and SGD.  I'll post more details when I get back home.
