A funny story ...

... happens to me in the last three weeks:

A colleague of mine is a well known local DJ. He also remixes and produces old songs and sell them to record companies and other DJs.
I think you could describe his music style as "house music".

On a Monday morning, he told me that he has to finish a new song called "Sweat" from Inner Circle (early nineties) by end of the week and that his regular guitar player was not available for him. I offered my support. He then sent me a 1:20 min MP3-file. I listen to the piece of music: groove sounded good to me and the vocals where already pretty pro like. At that stage it was just a piece of music, not a complete song.

I then listen to the chord progression: 4 chords - C-major scale. I recorded 3 Reggea licks each with two different pickups and I sent it back. Took me 30 minutes. I thought: well let him get on and do it. One weeks later he sent me the master mix.
I was pretty impressed about the quality. Although this music style is not where my heart beats faster.

Another week later, he told me that the record company is willing to do a promotion video and I could participate, if I want.
And of course I did :) It was a lot of fun for me.

My guitar (my Warmoth H-S-H) is the only real instrument in the song. Everything else - with the exception of the vocals - is midikeyboard based. I guess that is how todays mainstream music is mainly produced.

Having that said: i am a hopless dreamer of the old times where real musicians play real instruments in a real club in front of a real audiance ...

The video is now public and on YOUTUBE since yesterday. My two daugthers (14 and 21 years) were impressed about their old fashioned rockin' daddy which causes a broad grin on my face. Have fun while listening and watching  :icon_biggrin:

Did you get the phone number of the dancer/model who does the little giggle at the start?  :evil4:

I'm asking for, a friend.

:icon_biggrin: Damned, I have forgotten to ask for her phone number

And I have to say: I seldomly meet such an altruistic person like you  :icon_biggrin:

Hi,

thanks for your comments - I appreciate them :icon_thumright:

Although this music style is not my passion, any music style can be done properly or poorly.
In any case: it was another nice experience on my long and winding music journey (including a "short" break of 20 years  :icon_biggrin:)

All the best - wolbai

... and the story continues  :icon_biggrin:

the record company is selling this song with different beats.

This one is the (modern) Reggae version with an appropriate video clip. For my taste this beat grooves even better:
