3/8" hole drilled in heel of new neck??

Just got this in the mail from Warmoth and thought this was interesting...is this from the manufacturing process?

yes. A dowel goes in there when they paint the necks. Even if your neck is not painted yet, I think the cnc still does that just in case it was going to be painted.

Looks like the heel adjustment portion of a "Warmoth Pro" style neck that uses the Gotoh side adjust truss rod system. But, the dowel receptacle for painting purposes makes sense, too. I notice the heels are finished across the back on finished necks, so they're not screwing the neck to a stick to hold it while finishing, like most people do.
