Hey Guys--

Twenty years ago today, we were hit with the horrific loss of Stevie Ray Vaughan. I figured that it'd be appropriate to post this on the board tonight:

As well as this one:

My bad if this brings anyone's mood down on a Friday, but otherwise have a great weekend everyone!

Yea, I am rather ashamed of myself for forgetting this day.
Stevie has always been one of my all time favorites.

Rest In Peace Stevie...    :occasion14:

Has anyone been to his gravesite?

I should go. Having lived through fantastic and magical artists, musicians, actors, et al from the '60s on, I've mourned the loss of many. But, the only loss that literally made me cry was SRV. Well, him and Frank Zappa. Jimi Hendrix? Sort of expected it. Almost cried about Janis Joplin. Some others hurt bad, but I didn't cry. But, Stevie? Damn.

My friend and I go on the Stevie memorial ride every year on his birthday, actually the first sunday in October, which is officially SRV day in Dallas...I put a pack of smokes and a guitar pick on his grave every year...
:rock-on: Stevie...

Well it was 20 years ago today,
Sargent Pepper taught a band to play,
They've been going in and out of style,
But there garenteed to raise a smile,
So may I intorduce to you,
The act you've known for all these years,
Sargent Peppers Lonely hearts club band!

In all seriousness, though, I do think the sky is crying

RIP Stevie Ray Vaughn..............  If you only knew your legacy

Who is Sergeant Pepper? Is that quote from a movie or a rap song or something? Did you write that yourself?

I used to live in Lancaster and as Soon as I found out he was in South Dallas I had to go see him. I used to live in Ft. Hood and it seemed like I was in Austin more than I was at home. I guess I always just figured he was burried there. Maybe it was the statue and all. :dontknow: I recently went back to 6th St. and my favorite bar is gone.  :( O well, Dallas sucks Austin doesn't. :guitarplayer2:

That would make a nice segue to a good Joe Cocker song
