Who uses Nordstrand NJ4SE ? (Hot split jazz)

UPSHOT: The little woman bought me a pair of NJ4SEs for christmas. They're definately worth the (double) money. Great honk, very little harshness. Great Jaco, great Chris Squire, lotsa great rock tones. So far I've tried Fender, DiMarzio, Duncan, Carvin, Bartolini. Nordstrands sound the best...

Who uses Nordstrand NJ4SE ? (Hot split jazz)

If anyone here has used them, I'd like to know what your results were. The application I might use them for is my warmoth jazz bass, rosewood/alder, currently with DiMarzio ultra jazz pups. Very good, but...

    RG Powerbucker routing question

Here's a cut and paste from my "homemeade powerbucker" thread: Warmoth offers routing for Rio Grande Power Buckers in their bass bodies...cool, except I've read alot of negative reviews about those pickups. So, I made my own. I took two Basslines Hot For Jazz j-bass pickups, Cut the bridge-side...

    Jazz Bass?

A true spring story: I had a G&L JB-2 that used little coil springs under the four screw ears on it's j-bass style pickups. If you would bonk the bass against something, or rap the bass with your knuckles, it would ring the springs like they were little bells....and being within the magnetic...

The split-p especially is too full sounding for "vintage". Best vintage P sound I've heard? #1 was a plain...

    Homemade powerbucker

Hmmm...pics. Maybe I can take a pic, upload to myspace, then C&P the URL. Is that how it's done, or is there an easier way?

Control cavity wall thickness for rear routing.

Hey, what are Forstner bits? Like an end mill? Good for routing?

Control cavity wall thickness for rear routing.

Yep, long bushing minitoggles of decent quality are hard to come by...C&K and NKK make them, but Allied Elctronics doesn't stock them. I, too will be reducng the thickness to in localized areas.

Control cavity wall thickness for rear routing.

During may last phone order with Warmoth, I asked how thick the component mounting wall of the rear routed controll cavity is so i could plan, source, and buy a jack, pots, and switches with the appropriate bushing length. The saleman didn't know, so he put me on hold to ask the shop...
