Gotoh Staggered Height for Reverse Headstock?

Hi Guys, I'm building a bit of a superstrat from a Warmoth body and neck.  The neck I ordered has a "reverse" Strat headstock and I bought a set of the Gotoh Staggered Height Kluson clones.  I've got a set on a Mexi Strat and they work very well. When I went to put them on the neck today I...

Pots for a rear cavity Strat

I've ordered some Les Paul type pots...I don't really like the idea of drilling the guitar  as my woodworking skills are not particularly great

    Wiring options for VW

You could go Master Volume - Master Tone - Coil Split pot using a double ganged pot.  When you turn down you it would short out one of the coils on each pickup which would give you more tonal options.

Pots for a rear cavity Strat

Hi Guys, I'm doing the wiring for my rear cavity Strat project and I've got a problem.  The shafts of the pots I was going to use (a Fender/CTS 250k and a Fender/CTS 250k "No Lad") are too short and there isn't enough shaft exposed (lol) for me to tighten the nut on. Any suggestions (parts...

    Back to the 80s Strat

The tuner bushings are now on...they just needed a very small amount of filing before I was able to tap them into place with a hammer and a bit of wood.  I did consider getting a rubber hammer but I couldn't justify the cost lol Next job will be the fit the tuners and then drill the strap...

    Back to the 80s Strat

Update on the tuners: the tuner holes are only slightly too small for the Gotoh bushings...I was able to open the holes up a tiny amount with a round file and the bushings fit perfectly now.  No need to ream them (thank god!). Next thing to do are the strap buttons, then the wiring.  Will take...

Partscaster on the way (COMPLETED! w/Pics!)

Did you get the Strat body from the Stratmosphere on EBay?  I've had a few bodies from them...great service

    Back to the 80s Strat

The only things I am worried about are drilling the holes for the strap buttons and I'm going to have to ream the holes for the tuners as the Gotoh Staggered Klusons I'm going to use have ferrules slightly too wide for the standard Kluson holes.

    Back to the 80s Strat

Hi Guys, I've just started putting my showcase Strat together...At the moment I've drilled the humbucker mounting ring and the screw holes for the back cover.  I've fitted a GFS Vintage Trem (with steel sustain block) but I've fitted it with some "brass" (according to the EBay seller - but they...

    Drilling holes - advice needed

Hi guys, I'm about to start working on my Strat build but I need some advice. Specifically...what diamater drill bit do I need to drill the strap buttons, the humbucker mounting ring and the electrosocket....I'm planning on using a Bosch minidrill that uses metric hex HSS drill bits. Any...

    NECK-THROUGH VS BOLT-ON

I used to have a neck through Soloist...I couldn't tell if there was any difference in the sustain...all I know is I'd rather have a bolt-on as if there was a problem with the neck, at least with the bolt-on you can fit a new one.

Hi and just pulled the trigger

Here's a pic I took when I got home last night...It's not very good but I'll be taking pics as I go through the construction. The neck isn't bolted on - I just slid it in to get an idea for how it's going to look

Hi and just pulled the trigger

I've now got the body and neck....photos will be up later. The body is fantastic.  I didn't realise it had the contoured heel...the quilt maple on the swamp ash is amazing and I love the 3d effect when I turn it in the light.  It's also very light which is bonus for me as I'm of the opinion...
