I wish i had seen this earlier, i recently finished a couple of walnut guitars. one with tru oil, and the other with tung oil and the difference between the two is astounding. you'd barely think they were the same wood, and they were cut out of the same board. i like the look and feel of the...
awesome, thanks for the advice guys. I was really busy this past bit so it took me a long time to get around to it, but I changed out the switch and it works great now, thanks!!
Take a peak at David Allen pick ups. I've gotten three sets of single coil pickups from him and every time I show the guitars to another player, they have always loved the pickups. One of the sets I have is the 69 VooDoos, and I think that that may be just the sound you're looking for.
but...
I just finished final exams for university and had a sit down to get reaquainted with my guitar. I swear sitting down with a beer and a guitar (in whichever order you prefer) and tuning everything else out has got to be one of the most theraputic, blissful experiences out there.
so cheers to...
Hey, i realize this isn't a pedal forum, but i know there are lots of smart people on here and maybe one of you would like to share some knowledge...
I found a Roland AD-50 while doing some spring cleaning. The fuzz portion of it works, but the wah wont seem to activate. I'm no electrical...
cool, thanks for the info! i read about the linking and wanted to try it but figured i better make sure the circuitry wasnt different and i'd mess up my amp. but yeah, it has two channels per input.
yeah i've heard that the silverface amps were from the CBS period. but i still think it sounds...
the linking of the two channels sounds really cool. I just received an early 70's bassman from my grandpa who had it sitting in his garage. its got a really cool sound and probably the biggest 2x12 cab I've ever seen.
does it matter if its a silverface rather than a blackface? can I still...
wow. that's some phenomenal walnut! i had a chance to build 2 solid walnut strats with a board I found. but the wood wasn't anything as nice as this! i found the walnut awesome to work with though. you're in for a treat! i'll be watching this build for sure.
Awesome! thanks for the info. i havent seen the wood yet, so i dont know the exact dimensions or its shape, but i'll chuck up a picture or two when i see it. I'm guessing its very aged and stable as his other boards have been.
how do you do the lines for the wires up to the pickup switch if...
Thanks for the kind words.
the forearm contour is definitely bigger than normal, especially walnut with the koa pickguard. the first mahogany one is a lot closer to a standard forearm cut, but i find the one on the walnut more comfortable for me.
the one in the middle is done with tung oil. ...
pretty tempting to give it away, but i'll probably hang onto it.
i really like the thought of a tele or a lp. is it possible to do a les paul without a laminated top?
Hey guys, i'm new around here, but i'm hoping you have some suggestions for me.
i just got a call from my grandpa (a retired carpenter) who found a two inch thick piece of rosewood lying around in his collection. he wanted to know if i wanted to make a guitar out of it. I don't have a whole...
Hey everyone. I more or less finished some guitar projects i've been working on for a bit with my dad and grandpa. my grandpa is a retired carpenter and happens to have a ridiculous stash of wood and a nice big shop that begged for guitars to be built. throw on a warmoth neck and a bunch of...
