First Warmoth Assembly - Green HSS Strat-a-like.

It been a couple of months. Guitar is everything I hoped it'd be. Last time I posted, I promised to post a picture of it side by side with the guitar that inspired the colour choice, but didn't get around to it. Anyway, here it is.

What should I do to prepare?

Yeah. 100%. When you're building, do all that stuff before you screw it all together. Do all and any work with only the part that requires the work present, wherever possible. It's a bit like losing your virginity really... the first time is a bit stressful. After that, it's all good fun...

    Smooth out orange peel

If you paid someone else to paint it, and you're not happy with the result, take it back and get it sorted out... "If I wanted an orange peel finish, I'd have asked for an orange peel finish." We all know why it happened, and we know what it takes to fix it. It's up to them to sort it out.

First Warmoth Assembly - Green HSS Strat-a-like.

Dear diary... Well, I s'pose this is the 'finished it' post. Yesterday, 'fine tuned' the control routing, soldered the ground on and fitted the trem claw, soldered the electrics in. Today, drilled the scratchplate screw holes and screwed it all together. Then, the bit I always get nervous...

Captain's Log, stardate... Progress report time. Yesterday, being a 'sabbath', I only spent a few minutes on the project - cut the neck screw down with a Dremel, drilled and fitted the strap buttons and worked the trem claw screws in and out a few times. Then it was feet up for the 'Sunday...

What should I do to prepare?

If you're a smoker, don't give up until after it's finished... Seriously though, plan everything you do beforehand... everything. You need to have a clear idea of how you're going to proceed. Work out a logical order to do things in. For example, back in the '90s I did an assembly whereby I was...

    Mystery Capacitor

I didn't want to commit to it, but I did think it might be a 0.1uF cap... wouldn't bet my coffee on it, though.

Yeah, I agree... well, dark green, anyway. The hardware is being transferred from my old faithful, which suffered a 'fatal injury' a few months back. That was actually a sort of Ferrari red colour, with gold hardware. When I put the order in, I was originally going to go with cherry sunburst...

    Mystery Capacitor

Yes. I used to have a link to a page that explained what the numbers mean... you'll have to Google it - 'capacitor codes' or something like that.

First Warmoth Assembly - Green HSS Strat-a-like.

In the old days before the eyesight went bad, I'd have had it assembled this morning, and be posting a photo of the finished article, now. However, these days, I have to take my time, measure everything a billion time, smoke a lot, drink a lot of coffee... you get the picture. So, in the spirit...

New video: Top 5 Things To Do While Waiting for your Warmoth Parts

Photo posted here - https://unofficialwarmoth.com/threads/first-warmoth-assembly-green-hss-strat-a-like.35677/#post-492724 Apologies if it's cr@p - I don't see too well, so it's idiot mode on a Samsung 'too smart for it's own good' phone.

Well, order arrived about an hour ago - less than 48 hours door-door over a distance of 8,000+ miles... What can I say? Delighted. The quality of the finishing is as I expected - top notch. The transparent green... really, really happy. Exactly the shade I was hoping for... I think... I was...

I rarely use the word "amazing"

Well, like I say, I can't complain about the shipping. Order arrived about an hour ago. Okay, couple of hours later than UPS predicted, however, considering the distance they've travelled - Seattle WA to Birmingham UK - you just can't complain about it taking less than 48 hours.

Will do. I started the 'build' thread not long after I joined - early January, and updated the order progress yesterday, but , yeah, I'll be uploading a photo when it gets here.
