I find that the Guitar Electronics site has a good selection of diagrams to act as thought starters. Select the number of pickups, scroll down and choose the switch type (toggle/blade) and then browse the results. Here's the page for a pair of pickups...
If you can't find room to mount a 4PDT switch, you could consider Fender's S-1 pot. They are available in both 250k and 500k and have a built-in 4PDT push/push switch.
This reminds me of some of the Hofner models.
