Thinking about strat that doesn't sound stratty

Yeah, here is the listing from when I bought it. I didn't do the mods, it was standard with the evertune bridge then routed for this pickup setup. https://reverb.com/item/3566599-esp-ltd-ec-1000-w-evertune-fishman-fluence-pickups-2015-black Super flexible, and the ET bridge is great for...

Thinking about strat that doesn't sound stratty

Gotcha- Sorry for the confusion, it's an HSH and there is literally a switch to turn on/off the middle single coil pup on otherwise LP style wiring- the H are Fluence classic, Fishman use the term "tap" instead of "split"... For me, with that, and some other split option guitars that I've...

Interesting- My EC1000 has coil taps and is HSH, but with LP style wiring and a switch to turn on/off the middle single coil. For me, it sounds maybe stratty enough all things considered- but a real strat has the spank that that the EC1000/LP style guitar will never have.

Really interesting- Has anyone tried to damp a pickguard? I would think caulking cord would deaden it down quite a bit. I might try to mess with it at some point, but now I maybe I need to grab a cheap squire or knockoff strat to play with.

The story of my life! Yeah, I hear ya- This is going to be almost entirely for studio use where those little differences are more noticeable. The combo of the a spanky strat, and the not-at-all spanky EC-1000 has been super useful and if I could have that sort of option with superwide necks...

Thinking about strat that doesn't sound stratty

Yeah I'm for sure not going to use strat style pickups! I certainly get this is the most important factor. I'm just also trying to dig into those little nuances. I have the babicz in the strat now, Wilkinson before it- the babicz has even more massive saddles than the wilkinson did, and the...

Thinking about strat that doesn't sound stratty

That's a good point- Evertune on the EC1000, which is an interesting one because the saddles can move, but I always keep them at zone 2 where they don't. And the strat had a wilkonson , which I changed for a babicz wide. Not a big difference between the Wilkinson and the Babics in the...

Yeah, for sure. This is where I'm not sure Aaron's videos (as awesome as they are), quite answer this question for me because he seems to be playing with really controlled picking. I guess, to me it feels like different guitars respond differently to that technique though no? My strat really...

Thinking about strat that doesn't sound stratty

Awesome- I'm going to look more into those options. I do still want brightness- this guitar will live in the studio and be a studio guitar to the extent that I'm thinking about only having direct outputs for each pickup, with no volume or tone knobs (which I can control in the mix by...

Thinking about strat that doesn't sound stratty

Awesome thanks everyone- That's all pretty much what I was thinking...but one thing then that I guess I still don't understand. I have an Ltd EC-1000ET HSH (fluence classic H and fluence Strat style middle) and the mexi-strat (actually also with the strat SSS fluence setup). Even just...

Thinking about strat that doesn't sound stratty

Hey all, new here and hopefully this thread isn't as dumb as the title sounds- So I had a chance to play an acoustic lately with a 1 7/8 nut and 2 3/8 (maybe, wider than normal) bridge spacing and I immediately realized that superwide is what my fat fingers have been waiting for my whole life...
