Looking for some tips for making the correct nut from a blank

I'm not sure what you mean by "square at the end of the nut". Could you elaborate a little please? Also, why did the string go sharp when the slot was back-filed?

Looking for some tips for making the correct nut from a blank

I just had my first experience with making a nut from a blank to fit my '93 Hamer Special. It isn't exactly like a Gibson or Epi nut so I had to use a blank. Everything was going fine as I was filing the slots down to give me the correct string height when the G string began making a...

Is it safe to sand the base of the neck?

Ok. I guess I missed those. Anyway, a neck shim wouldn't have worked for me. Can you imagine a neck at an angle that would have made up for a bridge raised up 3/16"?

Is it safe to sand the base of the neck?

If you're talking about Stewmac shims, I didn't see what you're talking about on their website.

Is it safe to sand the base of the neck?

Hi all. I'm back to update my situation. The Stewmac shims are made at an angle to raise the end of the neck (i.e. the last fret) and they don't make shims that do the opposite. And they are shaped so you can't turn them around. I tried a 1mm shim at the front of the neck pocket and clamped the...

Is it safe to sand the base of the neck?

So any recommendations about what size shim I should use?

Is it safe to sand the base of the neck?

The depth of the neck pocket is just a hair over 5/8 inch. I don't see how putting in a shim would lower anything.

Is it safe to sand the base of the neck?

The neck pocket is raw wood except for a warning sticker about the contoured heel that I removed. I have another strat body (not a Warmoth) that I used this neck with and there were no problems.

Is it safe to sand the base of the neck?

I've attached my Warmoth neck to the new strat body that just arrived and discovered I have to raise the bridge saddles an extreme amount to get the right string height. I double checked to make sure the neck was seated all the way in the pocket. Is it safe to use a block sander to sand the base...

    Maple neck and Warmoth warranty

I received my maple 24 3/4 conversion neck from Warmoth with an ebony fretboard. Warmoth says the warranty is void if there isn't a hard finish applied to the neck. Is this because the neck is maple or is it a general policy? I know some players sand the finish off of their necks because they...

Why doesn't Warmoth provide specs on their knobs?

I purchased the standard Fender style 1 volume 2 tone knobs for a partscaster from Warmoth and they don't fit the split shafts on my pots. All Warmoth says about these knobs is that they fit most split shaft pots. My shafts are 6mm and the inside hole of the knobs I got from Warmoth is a little...
