I'm not sure what you mean by "square at the end of the nut". Could you elaborate a little please? Also, why did the string go sharp when the slot was back-filed?
I just had my first experience with making a nut from a blank to fit my '93 Hamer Special. It isn't exactly like a Gibson or Epi nut so I had to use a blank. Everything was going fine as I was filing the slots down to give me the correct string height when the G string began making a...
Ok. I guess I missed those. Anyway, a neck shim wouldn't have worked for me. Can you imagine a neck at an angle that would have made up for a bridge raised up 3/16"?

The neck pocket is raw wood except for a warning sticker about the contoured heel that I removed. I have another strat body (not a Warmoth) that I used this neck with and there were no problems.
I've attached my Warmoth neck to the new strat body that just arrived and discovered I have to raise the bridge saddles an extreme amount to get the right string height. I double checked to make sure the neck was seated all the way in the pocket. Is it safe to use a block sander to sand the base...

I purchased the standard Fender style 1 volume 2 tone knobs for a partscaster from Warmoth and they don't fit the split shafts on my pots. All Warmoth says about these knobs is that they fit most split shaft pots. My shafts are 6mm and the inside hole of the knobs I got from Warmoth is a little...
