    finished body with unifnished neck?

My MusicMan BFR Axis has a birdseye maple neck with rosewood fretboard.  MusicMan is known for awesome necks and mine is a good example.  MusicMan uses a Birchwood CaseyTru Oil Gun Stock finish & wax which feels like its unfinished.  It does require maintenance over the long-term, including...

    Are these worth investing in.

++ on the Schallers.  I use them on most of my guitars.  That said, I use the Ernie Ball variety on my MusicMan guitar and I have to say they are pretty nice, as well.

    Color shift paints

Thanks, Gregg, for responding.  Since the "flip-flop" finish isn't described on Warmoth's site, can you tell me which color combinations you offer?

    Your favorite fret levelling tool?

I based the need for leveling on instructions from my tech and others.  Using a fret rocker, there were a number of high frets.  Some were fine in the middle of the fret but high on either the base or treble side of the fret.  My frets are now level (base, middle, and treble) throughout the...

    Fireburst Strat **NEW PICS**

Awesome looking body!  I bet it looks even better in person . . . they always do. Let us know about the sound of your Bare Knuckle pickups.  This is an option I had not considered for future strat builds

So my first build won't be my Warmoth...

BTW, I purchased my MIM  strat for cheap on Craigslist and had my tech replace the pickups, all electronics (pots, switch, jack, etc.), and tuners.  I should have replaced the bridge and nut as well.  Actually, "I" should have used it as my first project guitar like you are now planning for...

    Color shift paints

While you offer a tremendous number of quality finishes, I sure would like to see a few color-shift options.  I'm partial to the Purple-Green (Mystic) combo that was available on the MusicMan JP6 guitars.  I can get the spray can color shift paint from companies like DupliColor and Rustoleum...

    Tobacco Burst Strat

I, too, love the variety and quality of Warmoth's finishes.  I find myself cruising the Showcase bodies on a regular basis. I found this body when I was looking for something that would look great with a black pickguard and a rosewood fingerboard.  I already have a cherry burst American Deluxe...

So my first build won't be my Warmoth...

I ordered my solder on-line from Amazon (actually, one of their merchants).  Unfortunately, it disappeared in transit . . . the box arrived empty.  Anyway, Amazon immediately refunded my money and I just decided to purchase the solder locally from one of our computer/electronics parts suppliers...

Take a look at this crazy thing

Then I'm lucky I lost the taste for ebay near the end of  my horn acquiring days.  Not likely to ever return.

Take a look at this crazy thing

So, I wonder what it will eventually sell for . . . and then the extra cost to install frets if they do it. Seller has predominantly positive ratings but his most recent feedback is not the best.  I've bought a number of high dollar trumpets over the years on eBay and never endured a scam.  But...

    Pardon my ignorance

I just finished my first assembly and I had the body and neck for over a year.  Most of the other parts, too.  When I finally got the initiative to build it, I was most intimidated by the fret leveling.  I didn't yet have the proper tools to perform the task or measure the results.  I certainly...

Disco Scottie's First Build: The Adventure Begins

With at least a Suhr and PRS in your arsenal, what made you want to start building your own guitar?  I guess that question could be asked of all the forum participants.  BTW, nice looking first project! [Well, I re-read your initial post and you pretty much answered my question there.  Getting...
