I don't own the record but I think those three songs were excellent! They have a positive vibe and they are catchy. This is the kind of music I like to listen to when I'm not in a mood for something that serious.
Not gonna buy the record, though :icon_biggrin: I just hope they'll start playing...
Wow, thanks to this thread I'm pretty sure I'm going to order a Goncalo Alves neck myself! I thought it was darker so I didn't want it just because of the looks but damn, looks great!
Well, I guess I just have to ask if Warmoth has a good solution for my problem - if not then I guess I have to compromise with the grain fill (I don't think it really a makes a difference if they use satin or gloss lacquer).
Cagey, what you describe to be a bad finish seems to be what I would...
Oh, well that sucks! But I'm going to try anyway. I can't do the finish myself anyway and I don't really know anyone around here who can.
If it's not because of the warranty policy I don't see a reason why wouldn't they do that if I ask them to. I don't think it's going to be too much of a...
If you think that'll work I'll ask if Warmoth can do that for me! I'm still interested in knowing a little bit more about those Fenders you mentioned earlier. Do you know a website where I can see pictures of them or read reviews or anything?
Hbom, do you agree with the satin finish without...
Well, like I said in the very first post, I want my body to have a sunburst paint on it (black-> red-> yellow). I don't want my body to be too shiny either.
And I was just wondering if I can get the body painted and still feel the grain or the wood or whatever... These things I'm looking for and...
Nope, probably me. I'm new to this stuff and English is not my native language so I might have problems trying to explain something. But you got the point!
Yep.
That's the thing I'm asking: is it really so? Can't I just have "the pigmented part of a finish coat" or what I called paint? Does it...
Yeah, I've heard that Fender has done that. But the important question is: did it work? I'm wondering what do the guitars look now, 50 years later... :D Seriously, if you or anybody know a web page where I can check them out, I will.
Wow! I love how the pickups fit in the whole red/black/gloss scheme! I've never even thought about putting a P-90 - even humbucker sized - in the middle (correct me if I'm wrong - it is a humbucker sized p-90, right?). Very cool, very innovative!
And even though I'm not really a fan of goth...
And why is that? I don't mind if the paint will dim or decay a bit in time or anything... it's just an easy vintage look ;) If the paint will just crumble or deteriorate or something, that's another thing or if the paint feels sticky or coarse.
And if it truely is unwise to have a painted body...
Hey! I'm going to order a mahogany body with a sunburst paint from Warmoth but I was wondering if a) I can get it without lacquer at all, with only the paint and b) if I can get it, are there any disadvantages? I just don't want any gloss to it and I have experience with an unfinished (except...
The body (Flat Top LPS) is going to have a sunburst painting. By the way, do you know how much lacquer they use to finish the guitar? Somehow I've grown to dislike the gloss and overall feeling of lacquer. I prefer how the plain wood feels like - but still I'm sure about the paint I want.
The...
I'm looking something darkish but not too dark: I don't want it to be too bassy. The sound has to stand out when necessary and not just sound nice with the band / "blend in with the mix". Of course my amp and pickups and whatever have their part in the sound but still...
If we have a scale...
