matching the back and neck colors?

To add on, there is no “stain”. Maple tops can by dye (rubbed on intense color) or transparent (evenly applied transparent color that allows you to see the wood grain). You probably want a Tiger’s Eye dye top with transparent brown, amber or vintage tint back and natural masked edges (although...

    Gecko 5 Wide… Too Wide?

Rather than editing I’ll just leave the joke be.

    Any drawbacks to warhead headstock?

I’ve been getting warheads as I think it’s the best non-Fender shape on the market and I’m proud of it being a Warmoth. I guarantee the resale is less through.

    Gecko 5 Wide… Too Wide?

As I’ve been reviewing the specs for the Gecko, the wife just seems incredibly wide.

Have any bassists compared a Gecko and Deluxe Jazz 5?

Interesting. However, I’m not sure a dingwall is in the cards!

Have any bassists compared a Gecko and Deluxe Jazz 5?

That’s really interesting to hear, I figured when Ken designed it playability and comfort were important design aspects. Everytime I build/mockup a Gecko I do the flamed top with dye, etc. but a standard finish on basswood or alder is no more expensive than a Jazz Bass.

Have any bassists compared a Gecko and Deluxe Jazz 5?

I’ve got a MIM Jazz V that has been my main bass for 25 years. I added a Squier Classic Vibe Jazz and Precision over the years to get access to the P sound and a more easily to play Jazz sound. My struggle with my Jazz V is that it just doesn’t have the authority on the low B. No matter what...

    Les Paul Special (double cut)?

This body style is what introduced me to Warmoth in ~1997/1998. There was a Guitar mag article about building your own guitar and they ordered the neck and body from Warmoth and did an LPS. I too am bummed I didn’t get one many years ago!

    How to match Dakota Red

It looks like Dakota Red was GM color code 50 from 1957-1966. (Not to be confused with the white that is current color code 50). See if your paint supplier has the cross-reference to car colors, if you tell them GM code 50 Dakota Red from the late 50s I bet you’ll get it.

    Noiseless Strat Pickups

Typically 61 bridge, 67 middle, 58 neck. You can do two 67s for a little brighter sound or two 58s for a little smokier sound. If you get all three I’d do both ways around in the neck/middle to see what you like. Also, if you need more power in the bridge than the 61, the Injector Neck and...

Showcase Strat Bodies - Vintage Strat Flat Mount Hardtail Bridge Vs. Narrow?

I’ve got an old body with a Vintage Hardtail bridge “route” aka drill pattern. What other bridges can I use with it with minimal modifications? Or can I get some new saddles that aren’t all pokey for it? I’d love to add the Hipshot but I think that’s drilling, doweling and redrilling, right?
