Finally got the oils I ordered last week. Here's the current state of the Firebird after being oiled(first layer) and tinted. The picture doesn't do any justice for the real thing though. The grains have almost 3d-quality in them. Especially the maple neck almost looks like flame maple...

Sold the black pickups. I ordered some Danish Oil from an antique store a couple of days ago. Can I oil fully oil the neck and paint the headstock later if necessary?

That looks really convincing. I just ordered a zebra duncan set(this time a Jazz neck) and both creme and black rings to check out which works better.
