Today I drove out to the edge of the city where there is a timber store that has all sorts of interesting wood. I got some ash and rosewood to practice on. I've chopped it to shape and marked out roughly where the pickups are. The plan now is to cut it like I would the real thing. And see how...
That is actually not a bad idea. I do like the structural integrity of having uncut wood supporting everything. But if it gets "too hard" I'll do that.
Yes I have. I may still go that route...
I want the wood of the body to be the keys. Like it's part of the guitar... not an add on. People...
No. I don't do stand up.
While I wait for parts to arrive. I figured the running total cost... $1074A! Argh... that shot up quickly. The biggest issue I can see right now to moving the project forward is cutting the keyboard shelf off the body without cutting all the way through. The vertical...
That'll hit piezo sensors, which'll be hooked up to analog inputs on a microprocessor. That'll then send midi over wifi to the laptop where the actual sounds are. I've actually done all that before in my travels. So it's the least likely thing to block me. I even have a virtual midi device in...
Yes, I have some very bad plans for this Tele body. And no one is going to stop me. I expect almost universal hate for this project. What could go wrong? 🤣
Yes! and they responded with:
I’m afraid that these are our shipping prices.
Please let me know how I can further assist you!
I actually checked the weight and country on the USPS site and it was about $88 for 2kg... which I felt was the right ball park for a shipped neck. Could be wrong on...
So I'm interested in this in stock neck, and the cheapest shipping to Australia is $185. Which seem... steep?
The USPS site lists that sort of cost would be for like 30lbs of weight. Does a neck in a box ready to ship really weigh 30lbs?
Hmm press X to doubt.
Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I finally got the sound I wanted to match the looks... with some Lambertones Ristretto pickups that I put in last weekend. This is what it sounds like:

The original pickups did not work for me. Too dark and high...
Awww thanks guys. You certainly made a first timer feel welcome.
I wish it sounded as good as it looked though. I'm probably going to put some low output Kinman's in it in the next month or so. The current pickups are way loud and sound pretty much like humbuckers, without the you know the "hum...
So this got "finished"... bar some tweaking of the electronics and a professional setup.
Currently I'm running 500k audio for volume, and 500k linear for tone. Will try 250k audio for both tho. I think it's a little dark sounding at the moment. And the linear pots bunch all the effect up at one...
