If you're going with a hand drill use a small sized forstner, like 1/2", then use a chisel to get between the holes. A larger forstner is going to be tough to control by hand. Tape that bit so you know how far you can go ;)

I've also had good luck with hipshot over several sets.

Hmmm. that's usually a bad sign that they're not being made anymore. or that the distributer has dropped them.

BTW, you can never really prove that the static is gone... only that it's still there. :) Kinda like the scientific method. and software bugs.

Been playing this thing all day. It's rapidly becoming my favourite guitar! This little project has convinced me of two things: 1 - it's all about the neck. 2 - you CAN make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. As long as you apply a generous portion of silk....
