Interesting- I’d thought how a melamine sponge might work as a sander. So I basically just rub the cured finish I have with the melamine till the roughness goes away, then dust and brush on the polycrylic?
Hi all,
Curious for the community's thoughts on best next step to smooth out a water-based clear coat finish.
Below is an image of an S-style body that I am almost done painting and sealing. I involved my younger kids in the project, so went with Liquitex water-based spray acrylics, which...
Thanks all. I ended up doing a base coat of titanium white, followed by blue plus some gold and black. Going well so far! The Warmoth DIY prep option took the paint really well.
Hi all,
I’m just about to start painting a Warmoth alder body that I got with the DIY paint-ready option. Using acrylic Liquitex spray paints in various colors.
Wondering— with this DIY paint-ready option, do I need to do a layer or two of white primer, or is the base coat already applied on...

Warmoth installs the bridge anchors into the body, and the studs screw into those, right? My main worry is that the two studs jutting out from the body would make it more difficult to paint, finish and sand, but I can just unscrew the studs and cover the anchors with...
I was about to post a very similar thread when I found you asking almost the same question I had.
I'm contemplating a HSS setup with a Bare Knuckle Holy Diver as the bridge HB, and single coils DiMarzio Area 67 (middle) and Area 61 (neck). From what I've read about them, the Holy Diver is...
Thanks for the advice :) wife and kids got me a nice Warmoth gift certificate for my birthday so probably will be taking the plunge in the next couple of weeks with the order. Right now the plan is to add a few colored stripes on top of a white base coat in their favorite colors, with them...
ha I’m definitely no shill :) I found the brand I think on an older forum or Reddit thread. Looking for something water based with solid colors in a spray can. I’d be doing this with nitro if I had a better setup and the kids weren’t involved. I’m thinking I’ll go with the minwax polycrylic for...
