This one was just stained and finished with several coats of Tru-Oil. I wanted it to have a rougher vibe as far as the finish to match the unfinished roasted maple neck.

You could use something like Cerakote, but it is quite expensive and requires more preparation. Probably too expensive for doing just a single pickup cover, but would be far more durable than any regular paint.

Also, lots of people swapped those vintage pickups from their 70's era strats for EMG's when they became the "in" thing. Not the brightest move in-hindsight.

If you're asking how they sounded, they were darker than a usual strat pickup but I think they are one of the better uber-high-output pickups for strat in that they are still a true single-coil pickup and the strat tonality is still there. I didn't run them tapped but I would guess they would...
They have alnico V magnets, 42 gauge formvar wire. I think I wound the bridge to about 8K turns and it came in right at 6.01 Kohms. The neck was at 5.72 and the mid at 5.77. Don't remember how many turns I put on neck/middle (guess is going to be around 7300 to get approx 5.75 Kohms). I made...
