So I just took a tiny bit of D'Addario Friction Remover normally used in nut slots, and placed it in each hole, then twisted each tuner into the hole with my fingers and then pulled them the rest of the way in with the nut, finished up by drilling the holes for the screws and viola, done.
So I'm in the middle of a build, ordered a neck spec'd for the Schaller M6 tuners, confirmed this on the documentation that came with the neck. Warmoth must be using a worn-out drill bit because the holes are so tight that the tuners squeak in the wood if I try to force them in.
